Why cubecraft’s community hates 1.8.

Dont ask mefor the source , I couldnt find it last time , but 1.8 players are a minority in the minecraft community.

They, however ARE A MAJORITY of the minecraft PvPers. Most of 1.9 players are Builders , Redstoners , Modders and Mapmakers.

Cubecraft because very popular solely due to its decision to update to 1.9. With all the mistakes its been making recently , it would have died if it were any other server.

Since cubecraft has a majority 1.9 community , and no other large MC server is 1.9+ , Cubecraft’s community cant just leave the server is they dont like it . (unfortunately). And as the only 1.9 server , here on forums , 1.9 players , including myself hate go go 1.8 threads , as this is the ONLY place where we can play 1.9 on a large server.

Update to 1.14 .

Here's how I see it, keep the server updated to the newest version, and have 1.8 pvp like before, joining from a 1.9 client. I'm sure if dev's tried hard enough they could make it pretty close, then we wouldn't need to worry about people constantly asking for more games in 1.8 pvp, and make it easier to go from 1.8 - 1.9 pvp.

The server used to have 25-30k players online back in 1.8.
Now it barely has 10k. Enough said :)

Back then , the server got a lot more attention from yourubers. Last May when those minecraft youtubers were making vids it did get 20k , although not 30k. It reached its alltime high a month beforr 1.9s release , so u do have a point

No. You probably haven't even been around when Cube was still in 1.8.... (if you have, sorry).
If they didn't update to 1.9 in the first place they would still have way more players, I know soooooo many people that left just because of the update alone...
Also if they weren't making crappy "updates" that actually make the games worse, they would have more players too, but that's besides the point.

No i looked at the stats. I wasnt pvping back then at all . I started pvp in 1.9 thats why I like it

Thats because

1. Time of day and year, depending on the day and time of the year makes a huge difference in player count ive seen this server even during the hacker onslaught the previous winter come close to 20k players

2. The server is in the uk which is mostly GMT time, 5 hours ahead of the US and 1 hour behind most of mainland europe again the time you get on can very much determine how many are on

3. The 1.8 client also splits up the players, while the vast minority are on 1.8 its still a substatial amount compared to 1.9

Do you mean minecraft in general or on cube? Because on cube only 20% or so is in 1.8

1. Yes, obviously. It used to have 20k + players on normal days too tho :P
2. Again, when all the EU are asleep the server barely has 1k players (lel).
3. I can guarantee you that if they didn't change to 1.9 fully that they would still have more players than they have now. (Also not making absolutely stupid updates)

The updates i agree with you on, however your logic in your first is off, the example? Mineplex! Version? 1.8, status? Dead

I think you're both kinda correct.
Cubecraft lost players because it went to 1.9, but it also lost players due to hypixel taking over the market when all the youtubers moved to there.
Now, 1.9 is a thing that keeps cubecraft unique, but if they keep releasing stupid updates (ex. chat update) that will die out as well.
What cube should do is take full advantage of being the only big server (as far as I know) that is beyond 1.8 and update to 1.14 as soon as possible (so shortly after when it comes out)

Did you read my previous posts tho?
I was pointing to the fact that if Cube never switched to 1.9 they would possibly have way more players, so many players left after they switched to 1.9

Would they have stayed alive if they were 1.8

No , with these kinds of updates , Hypixel would have killed Cubecraft like they killed Mineplex.

Yeah, they wouldn't stay alive, the management of this server is by far the worst out of any "bigger" server out there. But things maybe could've been different if they stayed at 1.8 :P

Well I stopped caring about the 1.8 v 1.9 debate. At the end it's just a bunch of kids playing Minecraft.
Though I do agree with one thing.
The fact that Cubecraft still didn't update to newer mc versions.
If they enjoy being modern and original that much why don't they update to the latest release? Add some of the new blocks/features into the server?
Improve games by implementing new mechanics?

CC should remove the 1.8 servers eventually and focus on updating to the latest version. The majority of players are on the latest version, and they could implement new features and mechanics. At the end of the day, Hypixel has a huge percentage of the 1.8 server player population, but CC has almost a monopoly as a minigames server past that version. :P

I also really don't think things would have been better if CC stayed in 1.8. It would have been in a worse state than Mineplex by now due to the competition. Same thing happened to the Hive.
