I think its pretty known among the Minecraft community that "XD" means you think something is funny.

The reason behind this is simple. If you turn your head 90 degrees, it looks like a laughing face with closed eyes.

However, because some players do not know this acronym's roots, they may think it is acceptable to say "xd", and that must mean the same thing.

"xd" looks like someone is dead, and their tounge is slapped across their cheek. This sends a completely different message.

So please, add a simple plugin that autocorrects "xd" to "XD", to keep uninformed players from looking stupid, and keep informed players from LOSING THEIR SANITY...

Thank you...

It's for the ~aesthetic~
For real though, you think I'm kidding but I'm not lol.
I personally use "xd" because I think it looks less aggressive than "XD" The different styles convey different emotions imo, so maybe it's just me, but if someone wants it to look a specific way then they should just make sure they do it in the format they want.

So this means I'm not the only person who thinks 'xd', 'xD' and 'XD' have a different vibe? Also; who else agrees 'Xd' is unacceptable?
Personally I use xd when I find something slightly funny / am facepalming myself because someone said something stupid.

xD - Slightly funnier than the slightly funny one

XD - lmao

Xd - I am unhappy

Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Uhm.. no?? Just.. no? Word cannot express how much I hate this idea. I absolutely hate "XD" I think it looks awful. If I say it, it's on accident. If it's on Discord I almost always edit my message, if it's in the Minecraft chat I'll just cry.

There's nothing wrong with people saying "xd" in a "haha that's funny" way

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates "XD"!

I don't agree with the suggestion, because "xd" has a different meaning for most of us. I personally use "xd" even more than "xD".

We sure live in a peaceful time when I see a suggestion about adding an autocorrect from "xd" -> ''XD".
I'm older than most of you guys. I'm from the MSN-generation aka the Millennials-generation.
In 2003 when I had MSN, I always used "xD" when something was funny or "XD" when something was even funnier.
But here comes the thing about "xd" or "Xd" Not only me, but most people of my generation used "xd" or "Xd" when they were simply too lazy to hold shift.
For us "xd" and "Xd" had the same meaning as "xD" or even "XD" in some cases. It doesn't matter to us.
I know the official differences, but I use "xd", "Xd", "xD", "XD" whenever I want and I don't want an autocorrect.

Please an XD? xd, I think the only difference is that the "XD" seems to be somewhat exalted, I don't know, but I don't know xD

Remember what I said above,

People understand what "XD" means, but most people dont even know the source material.

Likewise, people may understand what "lol" means, (laughing presumably), but you would be surprised how few people know that it stands for "Laugh out Loud".

Rolling on the floor laughing isnt really a fine, complete sentence, and kind of looks trashy. Imagine you are talking with your friend in real life (irl XD), and you say something funny. Then they say "Rolling On the Floor Laughing". It makes an awkward situation.

And LMAO shouldnt be allowed to begin with. As it is an acronym that includes swearing, I would consider it derogatory and in violation of rule 2.1.

I have.. so many questions.. since when.. since WHEN do people care so much about if people say ''xd'' or ''XD''. In my 16 years of life, never have I ever seen someone care so much about the true meaning of ''xd'' and ''lmao''.
Why do you care.. what's the big deal? Why do you care so much about people saying ''xd'' in a ''haha that's funny'' way?

This isn't very on topic on the thread, but I'd like to mention it as well since you mentioned it in your reponse: Who uses ''rolf'' irl? Just.. who..? I can understand why you'd use it in chat, I personally don't use it, I hate it. But irl..? That's like people saying ''lmao'' irl.. no..
Also, (hopefully) nobody says ''laughing out loud'' as well nor irl.

Staff confirmed that saying ''lmao'' is not considered bad.
In fact, ''lmfao'' is even allowed despite it containing the f word.
