Hey guys, I see you clicked on my thread. Thanks!

The reason of this thread is to debate about Blockwars core, and try to find a collective solution to this game. Cause let's be real: Core is boring.

In my opinion, Blockwars core is boring cause the games almost always last till overtime. And that's a serious problem. It also used to happen on Capture the flag when it didn't have a cap limit and the games lasted till the last second. There's a lot of problems in this. When Blockwars CTF got revamped (the best update so far imo) it got wayyyyy more fun, making games last a lot less and even make games last less than 2 minutes (counting building period) in some maps like castlewars. The problem with Core is that it's a static game; the whole purpose of it is to stand in a zone and break the core constantly until it's health reaches 0, making it way more boring and less active than capture the flag, increasing the number of people defending the core, and making the games last way more.
We'd also have to mention that those "intense" games in Core don't really exist, and if those exist, it's basically camping until overtime and go invis rush a Core.

Now to the solutions. Here is where I want most of you to comment to see if I am the only one who feels the same way about this, and if I should elaborate a suggestion thread for this.

So the first solution and the most crucial is reducing the core's health. 25 health for a core that is usually situated right next to the spawn point of the enemy team is extremely painful. Right now, with it's 25 health, it's barely imposible to get more than one or two hits to the core if the enemy team is competent. I think that reducing the health from 25 to 15 or 20 would be better and could make the games last less and more enjoyable.

The second solution is overtime; overtime in Blockwars CTF only happens if the teams are tied. In Core that doesn't happen cause instead of making the game end if someone's winning, the game continues reducing the health of both cores for a % (dunno the exact %) and makes the game even last longer. Remove this, make it like in CTF; if one team is winning even if it's by one health they win the game. End of it.

That's the only two things that come up to my head when Im thinking about improving core since I can't find any way to fix that it's a repetitive game.

About the removal of it; I don't know. It feels like an extreme measure, but I wouldn't be too bothered if it did get removed at the end.

Soooo yea, that's basically it. Looking forward to see your responses. xx

My immediate response to this is: remove it. But that’s just not going to happen and it would be inconsiderate of me as many people do like BlockWars Core (though I’m guessing it is because it’s just somehow remotely similar to CTF).
If I’m being honest, the concept of Core just seems stupid to me. Stupid in the sense that you can lose/win because of a single time you broke a block of wool. It has no depth in it and even if you make it take less time it’s still so incredibly annoying and painful to play in.

I think that Core and CTF are so different they shouldn’t even have similar maps. All maps are specifically designed for CTF because it was the superior game mode for many years, and most of BlockWars’ updates focused on CTF.

I seriously don’t like the gamemode and I would even say people only play it because it says “BlockWars”. I mean, who would like to play a 10 minute long game to break a miserable block 25 times while spawn killing your enemy. It’s the single most monotonous game that CubeCraft has.

There’s a reason why it was dead for so long, it’s a horribly boring game.

I say remove it and give its featuring space to CTF

Well, i personally don't like it that much, but removing it would be hars for people who absolutely love it!
Maybe just reduce the amount of how fast/how many times Blockwars could be a Featured Game?

Not many people “absolutely love it!”. Reducing the amount of how many times it is featured would be unfair to the people who like BlockWars as a whole.
Like me, I don’t really like core but I’d rather play that than archer assault or smth.

I never play BW but more games is always better
That adds completely nothing to this thread and shows that you didn't even read it.

Maybe if more people would show negative feedback on this thread, and counter argument my points I could agree with you, but seeing how many people actually is supporting the thread and how no one has given any feedback in favour of Core kinda makes me fee like those people who "absolutely love it!" don't even exist. And reducing how many times Blockwars is featured would not help the problem at all?
My immediate response to this is: remove it. But that’s just not going to happen and it would be inconsiderate of me as many people do like BlockWars Core (though I’m guessing it is because it’s just somehow remotely similar to CTF).
To add, I also said in the thread that removing it would be a extreme measure in case they couldn't find a solution to make it at least enjoyable. Revamping is kind of the goal here.

True. It kind of feels like a bad made version of money walls, but instead of hitting a wither king you break a wool block for at least 5 minutes without any interaction whatsoever.

To add onto this; most of the spawn points of the enemy team are situated right next to the core (ex; Forest Fight). But I believe I've already mentioned that on the thread.

For starters, I agree the gamemode is fairly boring compared to CTF. It always has been since the day it was added to Block Wars and always will fail to compare to the original CTF. I personally believe that shorter games do not make for a better game, however. Changing CTF's capturing system to 3 per game ruins the competitiveness of the gamemode and also pushes to more defending than going for the other's flags. It going the full 5 minutes left every second intense, but I guess cubecraft players don't have the patience to play a game out in full.
Back on the Chunk Core was not quite like what it is now. Instead of 25 lives, your team had around 10. Respawn times were longer and invincibility was shorter so you wouldn't have to kill, break once, run away. If you were down a life by the other team at the end, you lost and there was no overtime. I personally prefer going into overtime in this case because it just prevents someone from running in, breaking once, and camping their own core the entire game. I would understand ending the game outside overtime if the scores were about 3-5 point difference? Anything else seems unreasonable. A return to the old lives with a new overtime would probably make the gamemode much more interesting and challenging for those who know what they're doing.
Another alternative, though this is a stretch considering the small playerbase, a return of the Jail gamemode would be interesting. I believe many people back in the day preferred Jail over core, as it was a much more challenging gamemode.

They could also turn it into something similar to control point.

Like me. I actually wanna see the Jail gamemode back, however, I don't know if other players would like that because sitting in jail doing nothing is kinda boring and could make people leave the game rather then keep trying to play.

Anyways, back to the thread. Some people do like Core mode more then CTF, so I don't know if removing it would be the best option. Then again, if those people wanna show some responses here to go against the though of removing it, they should speak up. Well, since I said removing it completely wasn't the best option, I'll go with revamping it instead. One problem I find with core is that it takes too long and the amount of lives it has is too large. Like Turtle said, maybe around 10 lives just like on the Chunk.

I personally prefer CTF. I wouldnt be bothered if core gets removed, but maybe some other people would. The solution you gave of reducing the healt to 15 points, would be awesome. Maybe also making new maps for Core and separate the maps for CTF would be a good idea.
