But the problem is: they can’t just ‘push’ the starter islands and the mid closed to each other, as this is just simply impossible in Minecraft, they would have to completely redesign/rebuild the map to get this job done...
That’s why they have chosen to build a circle island around the middle: to make the middle easier accesible for players, without having to completely rebuild the whole map.
(The same goes for the starter islands: on the map ‘Western’ there are some small islands build in between the starter island, just to make other islands easier accesible for players, so they don’t have to build bridges of more then 50 blocks...)
(To be honest, I don’t really like the circle around the mid and stuff, but I do like the fact the middle is easier accesible now. So I think the build team really met me (and probably a lot of other players as well) in the middle; as we do not have to cover those terribly long distances of building bridges, just to get to another island, and they didn’t have to completely rebuild the map/ remove the map!)

My first thoughts:
This map was one of my 2 most favourite SkyWars maps back in the time (along with Diet).
And I think it would be great to readd this map, but only if it gets a small update:
from the moment on they removed Modern, and kept the updated version of the map ‘Western’ (they added a new circle island builded around the middle), I was wondering why they didn’t just do the same with Modern...
My second thoughts:
It got removed with a reason,
and adding those back would make events like ‘Nostalgia Week’ way less special/ fun... :/
No matter how much I like Modern (and Diet), I think it is better if they don’t return even though they could become more playable with a little update/revamp. Just to keep upcoming Nostalgia Weeks exciting and keep the ‘hype’ about those events...
Because think of this: if Cube would readd every (highly) requested map of the ‘Nostalgia Week’,
nobody would care about an upcoming Nostalgia Week since all of the nice maps already are in the server, and only the less pleasant maps will still be able to get futured during the Nostalgia Weeks...
So, with a heavy heart I will have to say I’m against this suggestion. =(

I also like them but they got took out after the big skywars update. This maps maybe bacause they are so big. Many player would camp with bows and shoot you when you are building to mid.I like the map modern in team skywars so plz return the map.
