It’s a plugin which creates a chat log, so I assume it isn’t any different from a ‘normal chat log’.

A normal chat log is simply just a place which saves all messages that are being sent on the server (all mesages, including pm's and such). Using a command to generate one isn't necessary if there's an easier way.

I'm not quite sure why you guys want a command so badly when you can just have a normal chat log. No command necessary, no further confusion possible. It wouldn't bring any differences to the process of making a report, but it would certainly add a verification system to see whether something's actually said or not.

What the reporter sees is what is reported.
It's the same as a normal screenshot except the possibility of it being faked is removed.

This is a possibility as well.
The issue I see is that there are literally hundreds/thousands of messages posted per minute. It would take quite a lot of memory to record every single message I'd have thought.

Commands aren't intuitive to newer players.

There can always be a timer for the command? Anyways, mods don't view ALL chatlogs. They only view the ones which have been reported.

The procedures which are required to take, copy and upload a screenshot are MUCH longer than the procedures which generate a web-link.

Steps to upload a screenshot onto the report site:
1) Press F2
2) %appdata%
3) .minecraft
4) Screenshots
5) Find the screenshot in your jam-packed screenshot folder
5) Upload

Steps to paste a chatlog link as evidence:
1) /chatlog
2) Copy
3) Paste

Escalated it, it's a lot easier to follow a link to a form than to navigate to the report website yourself and upload a screenshot.

Besides, Remi was referring to Tacos reading the suggestion when was staff manager. Right now, there's a completely different staff manager and maybe Animal would view this thread in a different way and take further action with it.

The photoshop method to fake screenshots looks like a lot of work and possibly detectable by some of the pixels if you've seen quite a few shops in your time. But it is also very easy to fake screenshots perfectly with a forge plugin.

No, you commeting on this thread will not change my life in anyway. But as soon as you're going to comment on someone simply bumping his thread, I'm annoyed so obviously I'll comment on that. Not a fan of this idea at all. Would take significant development effort and result in an inherently flawed system. The problem you have when you just look at one persons comments is that all context is stripped out. Particularly where chat moderation is concerned context is extremely important because it's often not what is said so much as the intent behind it. It would have to be full chat logs or nothing and even in that case I don't see a case for making those logs accessible to regular players.

Maybe a different type of chat log would be better? Because I personally believe that a screenshot is quite bad evidence due to how easily it can be faked. Perhaps a staff-only chatlog where a staff member can view messages from a certain community member or from a certain time in a certain server? A screenshot would still be necesarry, however, staff can also check up on fake reports to make sure messages were sent as mentioned within the report.
