I feel like EggWars is supposed to be a defensive game and rushing kinda takes away the fun of it, it's supposed to be longer, it's a strategic standoff and I think it should be less like other games like Survival Games and SkyWars that are over in a blink.
I don't think there is one intended way to play the game. That is why there are maps with varying distances, sizes, and pre-built bridges to the middle. Larger maps benefit defensive play, smaller maps benefit aggression. Just play the maps that benefit your play-style, and pass on any you dislike. Lucky Islands' Steampunk? Nah too annoying, but you bet your fluffiest pillow I'm joining every Dinner or Art game I see, because there's less RNG involved in getting to the middle and the maps are smaller, meaning there are these epic brawls in the middle where half the population dies at once.
If you make all the maps more similar, you essentially erase other people's strategies whilst making your own ones much more consistent. Suddenly, rushing becomes the only effective way to play the game. Say what you will about camping, but it
is an effective and legitimate strategy that many players see success with.
